Facts indicating insanity observed by myself at the time of examination viz.:
Unnaturally quiet & dejected, has since admission here threatened to cut his throat, has been under observation for three weeks & shows no sign of improvement. He is sullen & abstinate & dull. Complains of pains in his head which temporally appear to affect his reason, takes very little food.
Facts communicated by others viz.:
Julia Haggis in whose rooms he has lived, 30 Dean St., states that for twelve months he has been strange & reserved in his manner, drinking heavily & taking very little food. D. Matheson : he is very sullen & almost refuses at times to speak in manner he is morose & indifferent to all his surroundings. Will not work & wanders about the SP without any purpose. At times appears affable & irrational in his conversations. E. Gordon (Attendant) Upon the insane states that on Wednesday 9/4/90 while an inmate of the insane ward he made a deliberate attempt to cut his throat with a table knife.
